FIME and SMARTCON | paySmart Expand Brazilian EMV Testing

Enhanced partnership offers local EMV migration support and the
MasterCard® Card Personalisation Validation (CPV) service

31 January 2013 – Advanced secure chip testing provider, FIME, has expanded its activity with Brazilian distributor SMARTCON | paySmart to deliver additional EMV testing services to Brazilian issuing banks.

The partnership brings FIME’s complete portfolio of testing and consultancy services for EMV issuance projects to Brazil. The expanded agreement builds on the current test tool distribution offering and will now include onsite support for MasterCard card testing, consulting support for new card issuance and card profile set-up. In addition to this, FIME will now also offer formal approval of MasterCard CPV services which helps issuers in reducing product time to market by enabling local certification of MasterCard contact and contactless cards.

Xavier Giandominici, Director of FIME America, comments: “This partnership enables us to be in closer proximity to our customers in Brazil. Issuers can now expect a more convenient, quicker and cost effective local service offering from FIME, facilitated and coordinated by our specialist local distributor.”

Daniel F Nunes de Oliveira, Director of Business Development at SMARTCON | paySmart, adds: “This important step allows us to offer even more value to our banking customers. For issuers, formal approval of their contact and contactless CPV projects can now happen locally in Brazil, without the need to send sample cards for testing internationally. We look forward to working closely with FIME to
promote its services in this rapidly evolving payments landscape.”

Assessing the current status of the market, Giandominici concludes: “With EMV migration in full swing  we are seeing an increasing demand for our EMV testing services. The market is still growing rapidly as issuers look to not only test contact cards, but also prepare for the launch of contactless and mobile payments. Certification and interoperability is essential for the launch of any advanced secure chip project and will be particularly important for the smooth integration of additional payment mediums like contactless into the ecosystem.”

Over the past six years, FIME has managed more than 6,000 successful CPVs for more than 1,000 issuers worldwide and continues to perform over 150 CPV certification projects per month. FIME’s distribution partner, SMARTCON | paySmart has close to 10 years’ experience in supporting Brazilian EMV migration projects and has been a FIME distributor since 2010.
